When I found out about Katie being ill the first things I asked was, "What can I do?" She said, "I just need you to be you. Keep things light and fun just like you always do."
The following day I visited her in the hospital. As I was leaving I handed her an Essence magazine. She looked bewildered. I said, "Katie, you are pasty, white and very much married. Essence is for the modern black woman and what I just gave you is the bachelor issue. Helloooo, it's not all about you, Foolio. Find me a man!" She had a hard time breathing but we had a good laugh.
Katie passed on a day where we take pause to give thanks. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we are are not just thankful, we were blessed to have known our Katie.
Arrangements are being made and should be finalized by Monday. Her family is setting up a memorial fund and is asking that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the memorial fund, The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers and I will update you all as soon as I know more.
Love & Light,
Leslie

Thank you Leslie and family members for keeping us posted.
ReplyDeleteI am blessed that had Katie in my life all these years. I thank God that I got to fly in and see her this weekend. I'm grateful that I saw her smile, laugh and held her hand...this precious memory will stay in my heart.
My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Miguel and the family.
I'll wait for your post and plan flight back for the funeral.
Thank you again...
Love & God bless,
Jasmine
Thank you for letting us know about Kathleen and keeping everyone updated on her condition.
ReplyDeletePlease let Miguel and Kathleen's family know that our hearts and prayers go out to the entire family. We love them very much.
We will truly miss her kind soul and huge heart. We are so thankful to have known Kathleen and then develop a long friendship with her and Miguel.
We danced together at weddings, tried no-name restaurants with fantastic food, shared stories of pain, heartbreak and joy, hit the nightclubs for Halloween and shopped together at IKEA and watched their faces go "not another IKEA fanatic!" They always welcomed us to their third story apartment then their new home in Houston and we had a great time.
Our Love and Prayers go out to everyone who was blessed to have known Katie.
We love her and will miss her,
Chris Kinsman and Daron Crider
